Legionnaires – Volunteers Needed for Poppy Distribution on Memorial Day Weekend

Comrade Legionnaires of Post 2001,

The annual Memorial Day weekend Poppy Distribution is on Friday, May 27 & Saturday, May 28 at the Giant Food Store in Ashburn Village.

Please see the attached sign-up sheet for the 3 or 3 1/2 hour shifts available for you to pick from to volunteer on this 2-day event.

We really need at least two Legionnaires for each shift. Three Legionnaires is preferred and as always the more the merrier. If you have never participated in the poppy distribution event, give it a try, you may enjoy it. I think that those that participated in the past have enjoyed the event. I certainly do.

Please look over the sign-up sheet and if you would like to volunteer for any shift contact me. If you cannot work a full shift, no problem. Any amount of time that you can volunteer is helpful and appreciated.

[Preferred uniform is smart casual with Legion cap if you have one; alternate uniform sport coat and tie with Legion cap if you have one.]

Also, for you information I have attached the Story of the Poppy, Memorial Day flyers.

See You At The Poppy Distribution

Legionnaires,

As you know, Post 2001 has adopted a part of Claiborne Parkway as part of the Adopt a Highway program.

This Saturday (14 May) rain or shine we will meet in the Junction Plaza parking lot (Ashburn Farm Giant shopping center, corner of Claiborne and Ashburn Farm Parkway) at 0830 and collect litter along Claiborne Parkway from Ashburn Farm Parkway up to Hay Road & back.

We need your help – many hands make light the work.

This will fulfill our second quarterly run as part of the VDOT Adopt a Highway program.

Please contact Ron Milberg for additional details.
