Important Reminder: Hillside Elementary School Veterans’ Day Performances

Fellow Legionnaires,

November 11th is fast approaching, and I am asking if we can get an estimate of how many of you will be able to attend one (or both) of the performances.

They are at 0900 and 1830; the address of the school is:

43000 Ellzey Dr, Ashburn, VA 20148

It is important that we get a headcount of those who plan to attend (include spouses, children, grandchildren). American Legion Post 2001 has been invited as a special guest by Jessica Blood, the school’s Music Educator. This program has normally been attended by parents and other relatives of the kids at the school. Some of those relatives are of course veterans.

Last year we were fortunate to have been given a special invitation by Ms. Blood, whose father is a veteran; she is a dedicated teacher, and an avid supporter of veterans and the American Legion.

She has been thoughtful and kind enough to invite us again this year. She wants to know how many to expect, so she can make sure there is adequate seating for us. See the text of the email I received from her yesterday.

Please let me know if you and any of your family members plan to attend. Even if you are unsure, that is OK. Just let me know of your intentions, so I can tell Jessica what to expect.

Hillside Elementary School Veterans’ Day performances, Nov. 11th

This is a follow up to the first email announcing the invitation to the Hillside Veterans’ Day performances at 0900 and 1830 on Wednesday, November 11th.

I am providing the email we received from Jessica Blood, Music Educator at the school;

Hello Mr. Gallardo,
I hope all is well with you. Our students are busy preparing for our Veterans Day Program on November 11th. We will have programs at 9:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. We would be honored if members of your Post would be able to attend our programs this year.

The address of the school is: 43000 Ellzey Dr, Ashburn, VA 20148, which is in Broadlands off Claiborne Parkway.

​We were invited last year and those of us who attended were treated to a patriotic performance that at least one of our members said was the best he had ever seen. It is about 45 minutes long, and we hope to have a good turnout again. You are sure to enjoy it.

Please let us know by Nov. 4th if you plan to attend (family members are invited as well).
