Legion Post 2001 Holiday Party – 10 December

Legionnaires and families,

Our American Legion Post cordially invites you and your spouse or guest to its 2015 holiday party.

Post 2001 will celebrate its accomplishments in 2015 and the upcoming holidays. We would like a big Post turn out for this event and invite you and your spouse/guest to share camaraderie and holiday festivities with other Post Legionnaires on Thursday, December 10th from 19:00 to 20:30 at the Mills Recreation Center, 43895 Grottoes Drive, Ashburn, Virginia (our usual meeting location in Ashburn Village).

As is our tradition, this will be our annual Toys for Tots event. We ask you to bring or drop off at least two (2) unwrapped gifts (one for boy, one for girl) to donate to the Toys for Tots program. The Toys for Tots program is especially interested in gifts for infants and teenage girls. In past years our Post has collected a significant number of toys for distribution to less fortunate children through this program.

Our event will be a “pot luck” event.
Our Post will provide a main dish, punch, and the cups, plastic ware, plates and other supplies.

We ask everyone to bring a dish for 8 to 10 people as follows:
Last name starts with A to G side dish or appetizer
Last name starts with H to O dessert (cookies are great!)
Last name start with P to Z salad (green or otherwise – Jell-O/pasta/your choice)

If you have a special dish you would like to bring and it does not match the above – no worries. Just send me an e-mail to let us know how our “menu” is shaping up.

Dress is “smart” casual – a shirt with collar and no jeans, please.

We would like to get an idea of how many of you can attend by December 7th so we can order the main course. Please RSVP to the Post e-mail at alpost2001@gmail.com, and tell us how many guests you will be bringing and what dish you can bring (let us know if you want to bring something special not assigned to your group.)

Feel free to e-mail if you have questions. If you have a last minute change, let us know.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Happy Holidays!

Some among you may have already seen this and passed it along to another veteran or posted it elsewhere. Perhaps the announcement itself would be good to post on the website as well.

Hello all,

Serving Together, a program of Mental Health Association, is hiring for a Full-Time Veteran and Family Peer Navigator.  Ernie had emailed you all about this last week but I wanted to encourage you all to share this with your networks.  Veterans and military spouses are strongly encouraged to apply.  The position is based in Rockville.  Anyone interested can email their resume and cover letter to hr@mhamc.org.  I am available for any questions you might have about the position.  Thanks so much!
