Parade Day Timeline 8 AM – 9:15 AM: – Parade Line Up begins in festival field. You must enter the festival field from King St. See attached map.
– The Festival Field parking lot gates will open.
– All participants arriving in a vehicle (walkers, floats, drop offs, etc.) must enter from the front of the field. You will access the field from King St. There is no access from Ida Lee Drive. Please see attached map.
– Staff will be available to assist you. Please follow the direction of staff
– If you are walking and have no motorized float vehicles in the parade with you, follow the direction of staff to park in the Festival Field parking area and then line up with parade participants. (See map)
– All drop offs must pull into the parking field and drive to the parking/drop off area (see map). Cars are not permitted to drop participants off on the side of the road (King St or Ida Lee Dr.)
Drop offs:
– You may enter to drop off a participant and then exit the field prior to 9:30 AM.
– You may enter, park your vehicle, walk a participant to their party, and then return to your vehicle to exit field prior to 9:30 AM.
– If you have a motorized float vehicle, pull into the Festival Field through the gate on King St. Event staff will direct you where to go.
– To avoid traffic delays, we recommend that you arrive early.
9:30 AM: Streets on King St from Battlefield Parkway to Fairfax Drive close.
– All parade participants must be in the Festival Field by 9:15 AM.
10 AM: Parade procession begins.
NOTE: The parade will begin on time, however it will proceed slowly and it will take time for all participants to enter onto King Street from the festival field.
Your parade conclusion:
– The parade route is one mile and ends just before Fairfax St. (NOTED ON BELOW MAP)
– NEW FOR 2025: At the end of the parade route you will be directed into lanes for exiting the parade route –We will NOT be utilizing Fairfax Dr.
– Please keep moving and follow the direction of staff.
– All floats must unload prior to exiting the parade route
– All vehicles must take a left turn on Catoctin Cir. when exiting the parade route.
There is no return transportation provided back to Ida Lee Festival Field. Please plan accordingly.
Participation Guidelines
• Be in the know! Text Leesburg4th to 888777 to opt in for up to date info on parade day information.
• All parade entries are encouraged to be in good taste. The Town reserves the right to remove entries from the parade lineup for unsafe practices, inappropriate behavior, obscene or threatening language, language which would tend to incite violence, or illegal practices.
• All parade entrants and their group must arrive at Ida Lee Park no later than 9:15 AM. Streets close at 9:30 AM. Those arriving after 9:15 PM will not have access for entering the field to line up for the parade.
• There will be no static demonstration in order to maintain the flow of parade pace.
• Giveaway items such as candy, coupons, etc. are encouraged. Please remember that throwing items into the crowd from a float, vehicle, or the while walking is prohibited. Any giveaways must be handed or dropped directly to/near the person. If you are handing items out, please be sure that you do not fall behind and you continue moving forward down the parade route. Staff will be along the parade route to ensure items are not thrown.
• All parade entries should be decorated in a July 4th theme. Music and other decorations are highly encouraged!
• Decorated floats and vehicles are automatically entered into the Patriot Cup contest. The winner will have their name engraved on the Patriot Cup Trophy which is on display year round at Town Hall.
• Any person operating a motorized vehicle must be 18 years or older, have a valid driver’s license and obey all traffic laws.
• The use of sirens and air horns is prohibited and reserved for emergencies only.
• Any unit with animals must be prepared to immediately clean-up any excrement from their animals.
• Groups that include children under age six (6) must have a decorated vehicle available for children’s transport.
• All floats will be subject to security.
