Post 2001 Steps Up to Support Mute/Deaf Family
This past Friday, American Legion Post 2001 and other volunteers helped a deaf/mute family relocate from Washington State to Ashburn, VA. Sheila and Willie Hall are mute and deaf individuals who recently made the decision to move their family across the country.
Their oldest daughter and youngest son helped interpret Sheila and Willie’s needs via sign language. With close communication, Legionnaires and volunteers provided the family with lunch, moving coordination, physical moving labor, car repairs and relocation logistics. The seven volunteers included local Realtors, a local business owner, and Post 2001 members.
American Legion Post 2001 supports an inclusive community and stands ready to assist where needed most.
