Members from Leonard W. Kidd Memorial American Legion Post 2001 with Book Distribution

Leonard W. Kidd Memorial American Legion Post 2001 members gathered “free” books to distribute to hospitalized and active duty deployed veterans, on Sunday, June 23, 2019.

The Loudoun Library Foundation’s annual book sale celebrated its 30th year — bigger than ever. As in past, they invited non-profit groups to select as many books as they wanted that were left when the doors closed ending the sale.
Seven Post 2001 comrades and a few of their family members spent a couple of hours Sunday afternoon surveying, selecting, and transporting to temporary storage about 750 hardback and paperback books, all in new or nearly new condition.

Next month in July, the Post will sort and deliver these books to several locations including Walter Reed and Martinsburg Medical Centers and to deployed active duty personnel. This project is an expansion of a personal project of Comrade Wayne Hansen’s, and one the Post can carry on for the foreseeable future.
