Honoring General Donald Hansen, U.S. Army, Retired
On Thursday, July 10, 2025, a special community event was held to honor General Donald Hansen, U.S. Army, Retired, with a formal proclamation presentation—recognizing his extraordinary service and unwavering dedication to the United States of America.
The presentation took place at Ashby Ponds in Ashburn, Virginia, where residents, state and local leaders, and veterans gathered to celebrate a true American patriot.
Brigadier General Donald Wayne Hansen, a longtime Loudoun County resident, recently celebrated his 92nd birthday on June 4, 2025. His distinguished military career spanned nearly three decades. He served in combat with the 1st Infantry Division (Big Red One) during the Vietnam War, held senior legal positions in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps, and ultimately served as the Assistant Judge Advocate General of the U.S. Army.
The event was organized by Chariots of Honor, a Loudoun-based nonprofit committed to honoring our nation’s military veterans. It was a meaningful moment to reflect on General Hansen’s legacy of leadership, courage, and lifelong service—and to say thank you to one of America’s finest. May God Bless America.
