Passing of American Legion Post 2001 Commander

My fellow Legionnaires,

I regret to inform you that our Comrade and Commander, Charlie McKinney, passed away this morning of complications resulting from his cancer.

He fought the good fight, stayed faithful to his wife of nearly 50 years, Eileen, his family, his duties and obligations to Post 2001, and the American Legion to the end.

He has now joined the ranks of our numerous Comrades in the Post Everlasting.

We will advise you of the funeral arrangements, and any wishes the family may have.

For God and Country,

Chuck

Ashburn Knight Awarded Sportsmanship Award

I recently was able presented to Nathan Davis his American Legion Virginia State Baseball Tournament Sportsmanship Award Trophy for his performance at the Legion State Tournament in Danville Virginia. Noteworthy, this Award was determined by the Tournament Umpires. The award has replaced the Legion MVP trophy at State Tournaments.

Nathan was not only a great player and leader for the Knights, but a true sportsman and gentleman.

He is off to do great things at Johns Hopkins University. I let him know how proud we all are of him and the Knights Team.

All the best,

Jim Linn
