This live, knowledge-based webinar is put on by the War-Related Illness and Injury Study Center (WRIISC) within Health Outcomes Military Exposures (HOME). While military exposures are inherently complex, not all Veterans require in-depth evaluations of their clinical issues and concerns. Navigating the puzzle of how military exposures may or may not be related to a Veteran’s medical issues can be complicated, and understanding how to address these at the primary care level is the first step. In addition, awareness of additional resources, how to effectively work-up exposure concerns initially, and determining when and how to consult higher levels of exposure informed specialty care are the critical next steps.

This session will explore aspects of complex and emerging exposure cases and cohorts and considerations to optimize consultations with the War Related Illness and Injury Study Centers (WRIISCs) and their Centers of Excellence. Research aimed at calculating exposure dose estimates using objective and subjective military environmental exposure data will be presented as an example of the type of projects under development at the new Complex Exposure Threats Center of Excellence (CETCE) in Washington DC. This training is appropriate for interprofessional health care teams.
