Adverse Childhood Experiences, known as ACES, can have profound effects on the well-being of an individual and on a community. Trauma can increase the likelihood of developing a chronic disease.  There is hope.  One stable and caring relationship can mitigate the impacts of trauma. Science tells us that what is predictable is preventable.  Studies in brain science, epidemiology, and resilience research has helped us to understand how protection, prevention, and building resilience can improve health, safety, and productivity across our lifespan. Th Fairfax-Falls Community Services Board invites you to join us for a presentation on “Building Resilient Communities and Understanding Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)” to learn how hope and connection can buffer ACEs.

In this 2.5-hour presentation you will learn:

  • How trauma impacts brain development.
  • The effects of childhood adversity and trauma on population health.
  • Resilience – what we can all do to improve health and well-being across the lifespan and within our community.

We can all make a difference in creating vibrant, healthy communities.
