Afghan Adjustment Act 2023

Two years ago, our soldiers and Marines heroically evacuated tens of thousands of Afghan allies who fought against the Taliban. Now it is time for Congress to honor their service with real and lasting safety through the bipartisan Afghan Adjustment Act.

Currently, more than 70,000 at-risk Afghans have been temporarily relocated to the United States. Despite the brave work done by these Afghans, there is currently no direct pathway forward to lawful permanent residency and stability in the U.S.

Both Democrats and Republicans have contributed to crafting the Afghan Adjustment Act, which would allow Afghans who fought alongside our servicemembers the opportunity to apply for permanent legal residency after undergoing proper vetting. This legislation echos adjustment acts that Congress historically passed for other U.S. wartime evacuees.

We can’t change what happened two years ago in Kabul. But with your support, The American legion can persuade Congress to ensure our Afghan allies are safe.
