Upcoming American Legion Baseball District Tournament

Friends, Legionnaires and Countrymen:

“Lend me your interest”!

The District 16 American Legion Baseball Tournament begins Monday 18 July and extends until Saturday 23 July 2016. The Ashburn Post 2001 Knights, led by Coach Bob Hough and Assistant Coaches Jeff Newell and Steve Davis, compiled a 14-1 record (13-1 in league play); and, are the number #1 seed in the tournament.

Our Knights’ first tournament game will be on Wednesday, 20 July, 4pm at Tuscarora High School, against the game winner of Warrenton Post 290 and the Stafford Americans Post 72.

This is a double elimination tournament and the winner moves to the Virginia Legion State Baseball Tournament hosted by the Danville Va Legion Post, 26-30 July.

I have attached the District Tournament Bracket for your review. You’ll note there are several game venues and the correct games dates should read:
Monday: 18 July
Wednesday: 20 July
Thursday: 21 July
Friday: 22 July
Saturday 23 July

Ashburn Post 2001 will host games at Stone Bridge High School on Friday 22 July, 4pm and 7pm; and Saturday 23 July, at 12pm. If necessary, a final game will be played at 4:30pm. We are planning to have a color guard and WWII or Korean War Vet throw out the first pitch at the Saturday, 23 July 12pm game. If you know of someone who can and would sing the National Anthem please let me know.

We have a very competitive team this year with a great group of young men. They would greatly appreciate displaying their skills for you. Please try and attend a game(s).

Still serving,

Jim Linn

A special thanks to my fellow legionnaires for their support tonight at the Ashburn Knights vs Warrenton game.
You have my respect and gratitude. I know the young men, parents and fans enjoyed the Americanism displayed tonight. And, hopefully, many thought about our freedoms and the sacrifices made by our veterans and military.
Chuck- again- thanks for taking the lead.
Color Guard- without practice- you did great.
Father Hinkle your thoughtful prayer was really appreciated. Unfortunately, God had other weather plans for tonight.
Al- many thanks to you for throwing the first pitch. Here are the first pictures coming in. I’m sure there will be more to come.
All the best,
Jim Linn
