Ashburn Knights Win First Game

ashburn knights (20160607)

Last night, Tuesday, our baseball team battled Leesburg Post 34 at Tuscarora High School. The Knights won an exciting 10 inning game 1-0 on a 2-out triple by returning player Nathan Davis, Briar Wood HS Senior. Jack Jaekle, pitching in relief, shut Leesburg down in the bottom of the 10th securing the victory. It was a classic pitching duel throughout the game as Brett Kreyer, Stone Bridge HS Senior, and Michael Zubovich, Freedom HS Senior, allowed Leesburg only 2 hits. Leesburg pitching was equally strong allowing only 3 hits until Nathans’ triple in the 10th driving home Andrew Moore.

Our upcoming schedule is as follows, but weather conditions frequently disrupt the schedule and changes get made quickly:

Tonight, Thursday, 9 June, 7pm, at Fauquier HS vs Post 72, Warrenton, Va

Sunday, 12 June, Doubleheader 1 & 4pm, at Liberty HS vs Post 247, Remington, Va

Wednesday, 15 June, 7pm, at Stafford Legion Field vs Post 290, Stafford, Va

HOME OPENER– Thursday, 16 June, 7pm, at Stone Bridge HS vs Post 72, Warrenton, Va.

Nice article in the Leesburg Today about our Knights baseball team. Kudos to Coach Allen, the Assistant coaches and our dedicated players.

Our next game is scheduled for tomorrow night (Thursday-7pm) at Heritage High School. (Winchester Post)

Coach Allen is still tyring to get Saturday’s game (11 July 1pm) rescheduled to Tuesday, 14 July, 7pm at Heritage High School. He is awaiting a Loudoun County response.

Dick Graff is available for Tuesday’s game, so hopefully we can have another pre-game ceremony and a first pitch by Dick.

I’ll advise everyone once I hear back from Coach Allen. I will invite Kevin Sloan from Leesburg Today to the game.

Unless we get a rain-out, I will not be at the meeting tomorrow night since I have missed the last 3 games dodging sharks in Myrtle Beach.

regards,
