If you would like to DONATE…

Donations made to Post 2001 go right back to helping veterans in our Loudoun County community.  For example, we annually donate to Boulder Crest Retreat and Operation Homefront; we provide emergency funds (grants) to veterans in distress including those
— threatened with eviction because they missed one rent payment
— needing emergency home repair because their budget couldn’t support so significant and immediate an expense
— unable to come up with cash for an emergency flight home to be with a dying parent
— who lost a job and while looking for work, had difficulty meeting mortgage expenses

There are many more vets who daily run into difficulties like these.  But because of your support, we are able to meet many of their needs.

We provide small American flags to children, Veterans to speak at schools as part of our Americanism program, and recognition to schools who conduct patriotic programs, like Veterans’ Day concerts.  We sponsor a Cub Scout Pack numbering over 125 youngsters.  We create scholarships, so top contenders in our annual Boys and Girls State high school competition can attend –at no personal cost–the week long Civic awareness program between their junior and senior year.  We promote an American Legion youth summer baseball team that allows young men 19-and-under to continue competing in a premiere athletic program and possibly earn a team trip to the American Legion World Series to play against teams from all over the country.  We and the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors conduct an annual Salute to Military, Veterans and Families in which patriotic talks and entertainment precede the opening of a display hall featuring dozens of agencies, companies and organizations who furnish veteran-oriented information, assistance and services; and most importantly, Veterans Service Officers from the VFW, DAV, American Legion and other veteran organizations are there to assist with new or existing VA claims and/or offer counseling.
