Military Lanes
TSA honors our nation’s heroes by providing special security screening privileges to service members, veterans, and their families. Our military community enjoys access to dedicated military lanes or front-of-the-line service at over 30 airports.
Using Military Lanes
You do not need to be in uniform to use the military lanes. At airports with dedicated lanes, simply show your valid military or veteran ID to enter the lane. In airports without dedicated lanes, show your valid military or veteran ID to the lane monitor for front-of-the-line service.

How do I access military lanes as a veteran?
To use TSA military lanes, travelers must show proof of veteran status and present an ID that meets TSA’s identity verification requirements. Some documents can be used for both purposes, but not all.
Documents that Prove Veteran Status and Serve as an Acceptable Form of ID:
- Veteran Health Identification Card (VHIC)
- DoD Uniformed Services ID Card (USID)
- State-Issued Veteran Driver’s License or State ID
Documents that Establish Veteran Status Only (Must be presented with another acceptable form of ID):
- Veteran ID Card (VIC)
- VA Proof of Service Letter
- State/County Veteran ID Card
